Some pretty good things have happened in the past weeks.

After the ABA Grands I took a week off and then proceeded to

head to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs,

Colorado for a week.  This was an unbelievable experience to

attend such a facility.  We were tested to the max, but it was all

for the best as it will help us progress in the coming year.  So

much information was run through us from psychological

necessities to all the rules of anti-doping controls; it felt like I

was in school all over again.  I was also involved in a few

newspaper and local TV station interviews, as well as an NBC

interview that will be used in the coming years' BMX Supercross

Olympic coverage- very cool.

The day after Christmas I headed to Columbus, Ohio for what is

always the first race of the NBL season.  Last year this race was

very good to me, and I was hoping for a repeat performance.

Before the races though I had an on-track interview with the

local FOX news station in Columbus as well as an interview with

the Versus Network (formally OLN) who will be covering the 8

race NBL/UCI series.  Apparently I will have a sizeable part in

their coverage (since I'm the reigning #1 rider), so we'll see what

happens and hopefully I can perform well for everyone.

The first day of racing didn't end up the way I would have hoped.

In the semi qualifier I rode a little too high in the last turn and

was passed and didn't make the final. The second day went a bit

better as I ended up winning the Elite final for the day.  I am

happy to have got a win under my belt so early in the season.

Next race is in Reno, NV this weekend for the first race of the

ABA season.

Thanks

Going into the season ending ABA Grand Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma this past weekend I was up for the Golden Crank "Pro of the Year" Award, the overall AA Pro title and the overall Pro Cruiser title.

The award banquet for the Golden Crank Awards was held on the 22nd of November before the Grands were to start on the 24th.  I am happy to say that I was called up to the stage and was named the 2006 Golden Crank "Pro of the Year."  I won both of the awards this year that are annually given out to the Pro class:  One being the NORA Cup (Number One Rider Award) - this is most like winning the Electoral votes within the Presidential race because it is voted by my competitors in the Pro class, and the other, the Golden Crank "Pro of the Year" Award, which is then like the Popular vote because it is voted by each of the 60,000+ ABA members that receive the ballots each October.  I feel very privileged to have received both of these awards.

As far as the racing that I did during the Grands, I wish I would have performed better.  I know that I cannot be 100% at every race (especially since we do 25+ each year) but I definitely prepared for this race and was ready to get my job done at this final stop of the year.  Unfortunately, with me not riding so well, I could only manage a 4th place in AA Pro and a 2nd place in the Pro Cruiser mains.

Even with these finishes, because I was consistent all year I still came home with the overall National # 1 Pro Cruiser title and as the National # 3 AA Pro rider.

This year has been extremely long, but my most successful Pro year by far.  There is no way I could have done it without all your help and I thank you so much for believing in me- the coming years will be even better!  Check out all the titles we came home with this year!:

Donny Robinson's 2006 season included-

-NBL National #1 Pro

-Overall UCI BMX Supercross Series Champion

-UCI/NBL North American Ranking Series Winner

-World Champion, UCI Elite Mens Cruiser

-ABA National #1 Pro Cruiser Rider

-Golden Crank "Pro of the Year"

-Winner of the NORA Cup Award for Racing

Thanks so much again and I can't wait for the future.

While I was at the Interbike show last week I headed over to the NORA Cup (Number One Rider Awards) ceremony at the Hard Rock on Thursday night. I was in the Top 5 nominees for the Racer of the Year category.

I ended up winning the NORA Cup for Racer of the Year! This is an unbelievable honor and something I never thought I would get. The votes come from the racers themselves so I'm thrilled I've earned the respect of my friends and competitors.

The other winners from the show were:

Dirt- Corey Bohan

Flatland- Justin Miller

Racer- Donny Robinson

Ramp- Morgan Wade

Street- Corey Martinez

Video Part- Josh Harrington

Below is a pic from when I was on stage. If I look nervous, it's because I was. There were some big names in that room watching me...

And I gotta thank James Ayres for the good times!!!!!!

Thanks,

I can't say much more than 'Wow.' I just achieved another one of my goals for the year. I won the UCI BMX Supercross race in Frejus, France this past weekend.

Team USA traveled there on Tuesday and got rested up for our time trials on Friday. I qualified 4th in the time trials. Here is a list of the top 15:

1 Michal Prokop                CZE 37.511 2 Arturs Matisons             LAT 37.517 3 Maris Strombergs LAT 37.767 4 Donny Robinson USA 37.842 5 Mike Day USA 38.090
6 Lukas Tamme CZE 38.313 7 Arnaud Dubois BEL 38.594 8 Damien Godet FRA 38.631 9 Randy Stumpfhauser USA 38.672 10 Kelvin Batey GBR 38.715
11 Pablo Gutierrez FRA 38.796 12 Sander Bisseling NED 38.870 13 Thomas Allier FRA 38.916 14 Pascal Seydoux FRA 38.975 15 Vance Weisendanger USA 38.988

These Supercross races are only one day events and for '06 there were only two Supercross races on the schedule. The one in San Jose, CA that was in conjuction with the Dew Tour a few weeks ago and this race in France. Since I placed 2nd at the race in San Jose I knew to get the Overall BMX Supercross Cup I would just have to have another solid race this weekend. All of these Supercross races carry a Category 2 ranking for Olympic points so they are just behind the World Championships in importance.

Everything ran smooth in motos for me and I found myself in the main event. I put together the best lap I had all day and held off Michal Prokop (who placed 1st in San Jose) for the win. Both Prokop and I had a 1st and 2nd place finish at each round but because I won the final round I took the tie-breaker for the Overall BMX Supercross Series. I am so excited I won the race and the title.

I got an amazing 1 1/2 days rest after coming off my new NBL #1 Pro title the last weekend in Kentucky before I headed to San Jose, CA for BMX Supercross that was a part of the Dew Tour stop.

In my opinion this race is THE best and is exactly what I wish every weekend would be like. I sure hope the organizers of the Dew Tour can give us a permanent spot on the schedule soon.

On Wednesday we had practice and early Thursday we did time trials that would seed us into moto`s for later that night. I qualified third and definitely felt confident for that night`s action. I won my all my moto`s, quarter`s and semi`s and was ready for the main. Although I made a few mistakes and came away with 2nd in the Finals, I was still happy with my riding and was pumped of the TV coverage I received; hopefully you all got to see it on the NBC and USA Networks.

Certainly want to thank Phil Tinstman @ SPY, Jason Jones @ Kicker for hanging out this weekend, as well as Dew Tour`s own Kelly Fitzpatrick for helping me to land a spot on Fox Sports Radio with Andrew Siciliano. Good things happened with great people these past days and I`m really thankful for that.

I get one month off before I head to France for another BMX Supercross event. Below are some photos and links to videos of the Dew Tour BMX Supercross and from the NBL Grands Memorial Day weekend.

I`m happy to say that this weekend in Kentucky I won the Elite Men`s main event and along with that the 2006 NBL Elite #1 Pro Title. I`m very excited about this and I thank you for all your support that allowed me to be in this position.

In two days I head to San Jose, CA for the UCI Supercross that`s held in conjunction with the Dew Tour stop.

What a rough weekend. Everybody that had gone to the UCI Worlds in Brazil last weekend was really feeling tired at this race, but since it is part of the ABA Pro points series, we all had to attend.

On Saturday I got 2nd in AA and 1st in Pro Cruiser.

Sunday I got 1st in AA and 1st in Pro Cruiser.

I leave for an invitational race in Bogota, Colombia on August 16th. For those who remember this is a CRAAAAZZY race with all the fans and they will love you forever if you give them one sticker. So I will be bringing with me all that you are willing to send.
Thanks

South Park, PA was the last race for the NBL/UCI North American Series and I was sitting in 2nd place following Robert DeWilde by 7 points. I had to concentrate on these last two UCI races but also had to keep in mind my standings in the NBL Elite Series points chase where I am sitting in 2nd behind Kyle Bennett by 1 point.

I figured I`d work on locking down the NBL/UCI points title and I did just that. On Saturday`s race I won the UCI main event putting me 10 points ahead of Robert DeWilde and back in 1st place. Sunday I furthered the lead by again winning the UCI main. So I`m not positive of the title but I guess I`m the `06 NBL/UCI North American Series winner. Whatever the exact title is I`m happy to have accomplished this.

Back to the Elite points chase...
On Saturday a few things happened in the semi that shouldn`t have and I ended up crashing which kept me out of the main event. Sunday I was definitely feeling the Sun Ringle Holeshot award and the win as my gate and first straight away was good. Coming from the outside was a bit tough though and couldn`t quite keep Robert DeWilde from getting me on the inside of the first turn. He took me a bit high and I got passed by Mosquito Suarez and ended up with 3rd in that Elite main.

The NBL Elite points are real tight now and I`m still sitting 2nd by one point. No need to figure out what finish I will need at the Grands, I just know I need to win the main event.

First up though is the UCI World Championships in Brazil in 3 weeks...

Thanks

Track was short but good.

Crowd was amazing and definitely on my side and that reflected in my riding. Signed many autographs so that was nice. It`s always a toss up to see if kids will be autograph hungry or not from weekend to weekend. This weekend they were always around...

Saturday I made both AA and Pro Cruiser mains.

I won the first two AA mains start to finish. Randy Stumpfhauser finished second behind me both times, which meant to still come away with the win I would have to be no less than directly behind Stumpy at the finish line in the third main. Unfortunately, I had gate eight in the last AA main. Although it wasn`t impossible, this track made it very difficult to win from the outside. I had a good first straight but got ran up high in the first turn and got sixth place. Randy got third which meant even though I had won the first two mains I would have to settle with 2nd place overall for the day. I won Pro Cruiser start-to-finish.

Sunday was a better day in my eyes.

I again made both AA and Pro Cruiser mains.

Luckily, my gates for the AA mains were better than Saturday`s (4, 6, 8) and I would be coming out of gates 7, 1 and 3 on this day. I got second in the first AA main and then proceeded to win start-to-finish the last two AA mains which meant I would come away with overall 1st in AA on Sunday. Pro Cruiser I made my only real mistake all weekend and did a wheelie from the first jump to the second jump and that cost me a bunch of time. I ended up with 3rd in Pro Cruiser.

After this weekend`s finishes this is how I am ranked in every single sanction/class I race:

ABA AA Pro- #1

ABA Pro Cruiser- #1

NBL Elite Men- #1

UCI North American ranking points- #1

Looks like I will have a target on my back. That`s ok, it will be a good challenge. Next race is NBL/UCI in Nellis, NV next weekend.

Thanks for everything!

Jason Rogers and myself did our clinic in Denver, CO last weekend and I have to say it was probably the best clinic that I`ve been a part of. There were 30 kids each day and everything just flowed real well.

On Saturday the weather was perfect and with a lot of help from all of you the kids walked away with many great products besides the knowledge they gained during the 5 hour clinic.

Sunday we barely squeaked the 3 hour clinic out as it drizzled all day. After the clinic the rain started coming down and Monday we woke up to a foot of snow. So as Jason and I sat on the tarmac at the Denver airport Monday waiting to get de-iced, we knew we were lucky to get the clinic off.

Jason and I clicked very well (as we should) when teaching the clinic and we have been invited to come back multiple times to this location next year as well as been invited to New Mexico, Minnesota and a few other states for clinics next season.

I had to rely on parents to take pictures for me from the clinic so I came up with the best ones I could. Jason might send you some as well, hopefully different ones.

I head to York, Pennsylvania this weekend for the second to last race of the ABA season.

Thanks
