ABA Grands Weekend
Wow, it was an awesome weekend at the ABA Grands.
It all started when we flew from LAX to Indianapolis on Monday to visit my Gramma Dorie. My dad and Gramma then drove me from Indianapolis to Tulsa on Tuesday. That was a long trip.
On Wednesday, we went to see WALL-E at the $1.50 theater and I thought that was a great movie. We then went out to the Sand Springs BMX track for their double points race. It was my first race as a 6 Intermediate, as my birthday was November 19th. I was leading in the last moto (short-lived), but crashed in the first straight when I hit their jump.
I was able to practice on a great track on Thursday and then came the ROC on Friday. I came in 7th place overall in the 5 and under Novice class at the ROC out of 32 riders. I was also able to watch my friend K-Mac make the main event final of the 6 & under Mixed Open. My friend Air Austin Hiatt also finished 2nd in the main event of the 14 cruiser and 6th in the 14 expert classes.
Friday night was really cool as we got to go to the NAG 5 Challenge and Pro Spectacular. My friend (who trains me at her clinics) Brooke Crain came in 2nd at the NAG 5 Challenge. That was awesome and I got a cool "Go Insane" t-shirt out of it.
Saturday and Sunday, I moved up in both age and skill level from the previous day's ROC. So, the Grand Nationals was only my 2nd race as a 6 Intermediate, after Wednesday's race in Sand Springs. I wasn't too far behind, but I was not able to qualify for the quarters in my races. On the other hand, "Insane" Brooke Crain won both the 15 girls class and the 14-16 girls cruiser class to take the NAG 1 in both events. Now, that's AWESOME!!!! Another good friend mentioned before, "Air" Austin Hiatt took 4th in both the 14 cruiser and the 14 expert classes, which is also very COOL!!! K-Mac made it to the quarters, at least, but I wasn't able to stick around too long, as we had to drive back to St. Louis.
The next morning we got to fly from St. Louis to LAX and head back home. That was an AWESOME weekend and I'm looking forward to watching my friends win and joining them on the podium. See ya at the track!!
