I discovered BMX racing like a lot of kids in the early 1980's; at the supermarket magazine rack. Mighty BMXA (Bicyle Motocross Action) magazine was like a beacon of light, guiding me to my destiny. Several kids on the block had BMX bikes; Mongooses (or is that Mongeese?) for the most part, but none of them actually raced. After seeing my first racing magazine I was on a mission. I saved all my money for 2 years and bought a Kuwahara KZ1 in 1982. The follwing year I started racing after seeing a flyer for the nearest track at the local bike shop. I was a slow learner and not very aggressive when it came to jumping. Several years later I met a group of guys from the DFW, TX area called the Sweathogs. The most famous Sweathog is Jason Carnes, 5 times and current #1 ABA Vet Pro. Anyway, they coaxed me into going for some pretty big jumps and got me over my fears. I still wasn't getting top results until I started racing the 24" wheeled cruiser. That combined with a good local track program with stiff competition helped me to be competitive on a national level. I went on to earn a National Age Group (NAG) ranking, a Gold Cup #1 title, and have made countless national main events. I topped off my racing career with my first and second national wins in 2006 at the ABA's New England Nationals in Westfield, MA. I am the team manager for the Pryme factory team and have been a team manager for the past 8 years. I enjoy helping up and coming riders break into the top ranks and being around all the energetic kids keeps me young.
