The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society ® Fighting Blood-Related Cancers

Since its inception in 1949, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® has been committed to finding cures for all blood-related cancers, but has not been able to effectively portray the breadth of its mission under a banner that emphasized a focus only on leukemia. Additionally, the Society is deeply concerned with the dramatic and unexplained rise in incidence rates of lymphoma during the last half of the 20th century. So on February 1, 2000, the Society unveiled a new name and logo. The new name, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® , along with a tag line, Fighting Blood-Related Cancers, was crafted to clarify the diseases that the Society fights.

We`re the same organization with the same mission. But we want everyone with a connection to blood-related cancers - patients, physicians and supporters - to understand that we are committed to fighting all hematological malignancies, including leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

The Society was further moved to implement the name change by a startling rise in lymphoma incidence rates. Statistics from the National Cancer Institute show that from the mid 70s into the 90s, lymphoma rates rose by more than 70 percent, which made it the third fastest rising cancer in the country during that period. Today 454,000 Americans have lymphoma. In 1999 alone an estimated 64,000 new cases were diagnosed. New cases of non-Hodgkin`s lymphoma are rising by 1.1 percent per year while death rates are rising by 1.8 percent each year.

BREA , Calif. (February 28, 2008) – The American Bicycle Association (ABA) has named American Suzuki Motor Corporation the official motorcycle and ATV of the 2008 ABA BMX (bicycle motocross) Race Series. The 2008 race schedule includes 27 National events and 13 Pro series events throughout North America.

Suzuki motorcycles and ATVs are a major sponsor of the 2008 ABA BMX event schedule and will be fully integrated into the BMX events nationwide. This partnership includes the all new 2008 RM-Z450 motorcycles, the first mass produced fuel-injected motocrosser, being awarded to professional racers and top amateurs and Suzuki KingQuad ATV's for use by the ABA for track building and maintenance at these events.

“We feel right at home with the staff and the members of the ABA,” said Mel Harris , Vice President of American Suzuki’s motorcycle and ATV division. “This enthusiastic family of athletes thrives on competition and the need for top-performing products. It’s the same passion that drives our motorcycle and ATV racers, and it makes this partnership a natural for Suzuki.”

The sport of BMX is growing and building a great deal of interest as it prepares for a worldwide coming-out party of sorts with inclusion at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. “We're excited to continue our sponsorship with American Suzuki. Suzuki is an exciting company that knows about winning championships. They really helped take ABA BMX racing to the next level in 2007 and I look forward to an even bigger presence for Suzuki in 2008.” said Shannon Gillette, Marketing Director for the ABA. “We are very proud that American Suzuki has chosen to promote its products with the ABA, our tracks, riders, and fan base. This is HUGE for the sport of BMX racing”

Suzuki will have a large presence at every ABA BMX National event, and has scheduled display advertising in ABA ’s  BMXer publication as part of its sponsorship. The ABA will use Suzuki KingQuad ATVs exclusively when constructing and grooming the individual race facilities. Suzuki will award all-new fuel-injected RM-Z450 motorcycles to the 2008 National Champions as well as awarding the Suzuki KingQuad 400AS to select ABA BMX tracks across the country ensuring that Suzuki has a positive presence in the growing sport of BMX racing.

INTRODUCING THE JOEY BRADFORD DISABILITY FUND – Monterey, California – BMX Racing is a dangerous sport.  As with the majority of professional sports, the money earned is all-too-often not enough to make ends meet, let alone pay for something as expensive as medical bills.  Professional BMX racer Joey Bradford has seen far too many fellow riders and industry professionals become engulfed in insurmountable medical bills stemming from injury or illness.  For this reason, in early 2007, the then 17-year old racer took it upon himself to do something about it.  With help from his family and key industry veterans, Bradford conceptualized and developed the Joey Bradford Disability Fund.

 WHAT IT IS

The Foundation, a federally recognized and regulated non-profit organization, aims to ease the burden of medical bills, either by injury or illness, for BMX professionals as well as BMX industry professionals, those whose primary income comes from the BMX industry itself.  “Getting injured is the worst thing that can happen to a professional athlete,” states Professional BMX racer Brandon Meadows.   “When I broke my femur for the second time, things seem to go downhill real fast. I just started a family, lost my sponsor, broke my leg, no way to make any money, and it soon came to a realization that it was going to be hard to make ends meet.”

Applicants must apply themselves or via a family member and their case will be reviewed by the five person Fund Committee.  If the application is approved, up to 50% of the fund can be released to help with monetary medical obligations. The five person Fund committee members are as follows- Jerry Bradford, Joey Bradford, Anthony Derosa, Pete Dylewski, and Shannon Gillette.

 HOW TO GET INVOLVED

At this time, donations to the fund are welcome and invited.  In the past, donations have usually been accepted after a rider is injured or takes ill.  With this fund, donations can be made any time, at the donor’s convenience, plus all donations are tax deductible.  Plus, donors will have the ability to donate to a specific injured or ill athlete or industry professional directly on the Fund site.

Jig-A-Loo Lubricant is named the “Official Lubricant “ of the 2008

ABA National BMX Series

Gilbert , Arizona —November 16, 2007—
The American Bicycle Association (ABA) is proud to announce an exclusive association with Jig-A-Loo lubricants to be named as the “Official Lubricants” of ABA BMX.  The association will begin with the ABA Grand Nationals of BMX (Bicycle Motocross) held annually in

Tulsa , Oklahoma .  This years event will draw thousands of riders from around the world to compete for national standings.  Jig-A-Loo will launch its new affiliation by providing a sample can of spray lubricate to every racer in attendance.

The name Jig-A-Loo has been a household name in

Canada for over 50 years because it is a premium product that delivers unparalleled results.  The all purpose lubricant is both invisible and water repellent making it the ideal product for BMX racers who require low friction to reach maximum velocity. “Jig-A-Loo is pleased to begin its sponsorship and partnership  with the

ABA , the world leader in BMX racing.   This is a very progressive endeavor and one that we feel is on the edge of becoming very powerful.  Jig-A-Loo will re-invent the lubrication business and the

ABA will be in the fore-front of extreme competition.”, stated Patrice Lafleur, Vice President of Marketing, Jig-A-Loo World, Inc.

“Jig-A-Loo has taken a bold step by choosing the sport of BMX and the American Bicycle Association to assist with the marketing of this fantastic product line.  The Jig-A Loo brand is dynamic and I know that our membership and racers worldwide will find the lubricants useful!”, said

Clayton John , President of the

ABA .

The

ABA has made recent strides in adding both new sponsors to the sport of BMX, but also in establishing new marketing objectives that will increase awareness of the sport.  New sponsors have become marketing partners that reach beyond the confines of previous affiliations.  With BMX emerging as the newest of Olympic action sports in 2008, the

ABA is poised for tremendous growth.

About Jig-A-Loo

Jig-A-Loo, a named derived from the inventor’s exclamation “Ti-gi-dou,” the Canadian phrase meaning I’ve got it!” when he found the winning formula, which has been used in industrial and commercial establishments since 1958. The product was launched in 1998 in the Canadian mass retail market, quickly capturing a substantial portion of the

lubricant market with its clean, dry and smooth application winning over do it yourselfers and professionals alike. Jig-A-Loo is ideal for wood, metal, leather, most plastics and a number of other surfaces. It is an exceptional water-repellent, a rust and freeze inhibitor, and will not drip or stain. Unlike traditional lubricants, Jig-A-Loo contains no oil, grease, wax or detergent.

History

A favorite product in

Canada for industrial and commercial uses since 1958, Jig-A-Loo quickly conquered the do-it-yourself and professional handyman markets since its retail launch a decade ago.  It is now available nationwide in the

U.S. for the first time ever.

Jig-A-Loo is the world’s first and only lubripellent – it stops squeaks, un-sticks just about anything and protects against water damage.  Unlike other spray lubricants, Jig A-Loo goes on dry and doesn’t stain or smell.  Because it’s silicone-based, it contains no oil, grease, wax or detergent – so it’s perfect for wood, metal, leather, fabric, and most plastics.  It’s also a strong freeze inhibitor and rust preventer.

An affordable wonder, the product has a suggested retail price of $6.50-$7.00 – making it the must-have can for the kitchen, garage, tool-belt and even the purse!

                The

U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame Will Induct Bernie Anderson

ABA Owner Bernie Anderson Recognized For his Contributions to BMX

Gilbert , Arizona —September 12, 2007— The ABA (American Bicycle Association) is very proud to announce that company owner; Bernard (Bernie) R. Anderson will be recognized along with five other bicycling notables to the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame.  The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is to be held October 20, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency,

New Brunswick , New Jersey .

Bernie Anderson is a pioneer in the sport of BMX having his start in 1976.  Originally from

Jackson

County and Kanawha County West Virginia and a resident of

San Antonio , Texas since 1954; Bernie Anderson became a leader in the BMX racing community during its formative years. It is

Anderson ’s drive and love of the sport that has kept him active during the decades of growth the sport has realized.  Bernie started four state-of-the-art BMX racing facilities in

Southwestern Texas and was a force that led the sport to prominence throughout the state. Known for his hospitality,

Anderson has always enjoyed entertaining amateur and Pro racers from all around the country including fellow U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame members Toby Henderson, Greg Hill and Stu Thompson

A successful entrepreneur, Anderson realized that he could be part of making the sport of BMX an important aspect of the bicycle community.  In 1985, after being a track operator and parent of two boys who raced,

Anderson purchased the American Bicycle Association.  The sanction was suffering and greatly needed the business savvy that he brought to the company.  From bankruptcy, he has built the

ABA into the largest sanctioning body for BMX in the world.  Innovative programs and the enjoyment of the sport have provided him the abilities to push for continued growth.  It is his progression through the sport that provided the needed insight for the varied tasks of the ABA ; A BMX parent from 1976 -1978, a leading Track Operator from 1978-1985, Manufacturer of Rebel Racing Frames 1981-1984 and

ABA owner 1985-present.

Now retired, Bernie Anderson still attends many of the ABA events and is active in the planning and management of the

ABA .  The Texan who in the 1970’s saw more than kids on a dirt lot has helped shape the sport of BMX.  It is for his continued efforts in shaping the sport and promoting its popularity that has earned him the recognition of the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame.  However, Anderson is quick to recognize that without the ABA ’s President Clayton John, the employees, track operators, sponsors, families and the racers;

ABA would not be the leader in BMX that it is today.

The U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame is soon to be located in central

New Jersey and is an advocate for all aspects of cycling.  The U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have collectively or individually left their mark on cycling.  The individuals are inducted for their dedication and efforts to promote bicycling.
